Osan Girl Scouts send cookies to deployed troops

Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts here sent 636 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to servicemembers in Iraq and Afghanistan thanks to donations from Team Osan.

While donations covered the majority of the cost for the cookies, the girls donated their own money to make up the difference.

Each troop had a contact point downrange that was a willing recipient of the cookies, and they were then distributed far and wide to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines.

Brownie Troop 7 sent 36 cases of cookies to the commander of the 732nd Expeditionary Intelligence Squadron, Lt. Col. Pete Ornell, who is stationed at Balad AB. Colonel Ornell and his troops delivered the cookies to servicemembers all over the country.

"We have been able to deliver (the Girl Scout cookies) all over the country from Balad to Baghdad, Mosul, Fallujah, and lots of other places," said Colonel Ornell in a note of thanks sent to the Brownie Girl Scouts and Team Osan. "Everywhere we have gone, we have been met with smiles and 'thank you's' from people who have received the cookies."
