Recognition program highlights ‘Diamond Sharp’ Airmen Published May 31, 2007 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- The Osan First Sergeant Council recently initiated the "Diamond Sharp" program to recognize enlisted members in the grade of airman basic through technical sergeant. This program allows first sergeants a way to give "on-the-spot" recognition to Team Osan members whose actions make them stand out. Through the program, first sergeants recognize Airmen for their outstanding military bearing, dress and appearance, customs and courtesies, and display of core values. When they see a member of Team Osan displaying one of these traits, they will present the Airmen with a Diamond Sharp card. Airmen may be recognized by their own or another squadron's first sergeant. In the latter case the Airmen would simply present the card to their own first sergeant. The first week of each month the Osan News Web site will publish the names of all recipients from the preceding month. Squadron commanders and owning first sergeants will set the criteria for internal squadron recognition and visibility. According to the program rules, the Diamond Sharp Program is designed to recognize only those who exceed the standards. "This is a way to publicly recognize those who go above and beyond," said Master Sgt. Gregory Weymouth, 51st Medical Group first sergeant. "Recognition is important to identify our top performers and for them to set the example for others to emulate."
