Units from Seventh Air Force, Fifth Air Force and the Republic of Korea Air Force will participate in the air component portion of Exercise Foal Eagle March 4-8. Foal Eagle fosters bi-lateral aerial training based on realistic requirements and missions expected of ROK and U.S. forces here on the Korean Peninsula.

The exercise will replicate scenarios and planning cycles in a robust exercise setting that simulates combined operations against a hostile force. Foal Eagle will provide invaluable large-force employment training for U.S. and ROK military personnel. This combined, large-force employment exercise will include F-16s from the 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan; A-10s and F-16S from the 51st Fighter Wing, Osan AB; E-3s from the 18th Wing, Kadena AB; numerous ROKAF aircraft; and accompanying support personnel during the week-long exercise.

Foal Eagle is a series of separate but inter-related joint and combined field training exercises conducted by Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea components spanning ground, air, naval, expeditionary, and special operations. The exercises include both US and ROK forces and are the culmination of many months of planning. Exercise Foal Eagle, is an annual combined and joint unit tactical field training exercise.

Training exercises like Foal Eagle are carried out in the spirit of the Oct. 1, 1953, ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty and in accordance with the Armistice. They are designed to enhance the security and readiness of the Republic of Korea and are deterrent in nature.
