Osan Air Base

51st Fighter Wing
Osan Air Base, located just 48 miles south of the Korean DMZ, is home to the "Mustangs" of the 51st Fighter Wing and 24 tenant units, including 7th Air Force. As the most forward deployed permanently-based wing in the Air Force, the 51st Fighter Wing is charged with providing mission ready Airmen to execute combat operations and receive follow-on forces. Our wing with its 24 PAA, F-16 and A-10 squadrons, along with a C-12 airlift flight and a myriad of base support agencies conducts the full spectrum of missions providing for the defense of the Republic of Korea.

Kunsan Air Base

8th Fighter Wing
Kunsan AB is located on the western side of the South Korean peninsula bordered by the yellow sea. It is approximately 150 miles south of Seoul. The base is named after Gunsan City, a port town seven and a half miles east of the installation, with population of approximately 300,000 people. Kunsan AB is home to the 8th Fighter Wing made up of two F-16 fighter squadrons, the 35th Fighter Squadron, and the 80th Fighter Squadron. Many interesting sites, to include temples and historical landmarks are within an easy driving distance.

The mission of 7th Air Force is to employ airpower to Deter aggression and maintain the Armistice, Defend the Republic of Korea, and Defeat any attack against the Alliance. 7th Air Force provides "ready to fight tonight" air power - precise, intense, and overwhelming; whenever and wherever needed.

51st Fighter Wing Mission

Defend Osan, execute combat operations, and receive follow-on forces. It is a wing with F-16s and A-10s along with a myriad of base support agencies conducts the full spectrum of missions providing for the defense of the Republic of Korea. Every member of the Osan team is vital in maintaining stability in Northeast Asia.

8th Fighter WIng Mission

The 8th Fighter Wing's mission is to "Defend the Base, Accept Follow-On Forces, Take the Fight North!" From all of our squadrons and support agencies to the F-16s assigned to the wing, the Wolf Pack is ready to accomplish this mission. We take pride in our readiness, ability to perform our mission and our dedication to our fellow Wolf Pack teammates. The 8th Fighter Wing is the host unit at Kunsan Air Base, and is assigned to Seventh Air Force, headquartered at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea.

Vision: Increase the proficiency and interoperability of Air-to-Ground support on the Korean Peninsula.

Mission:

Provide air and space power expertise, command & control of Close Air Support (CAS) and Counterfire (XATK) mission and operationally tailored Weather support for all USFK staff and Army ground and aviation units on the Korean Peninsula.
