ROKAF, USAF Participate in Exercise Max-Thunder Published Oct. 25, 2012 7AF/PA OSAN AIR BASE, REPUBLIC OF KOREA -- Kunsan Air Base will host the ninth Max Thunder exercise, which fosters bi-lateral aerial training between United States Air Force and Republic of Korea Air Force Airmen, Oct. 26- Nov. 2, 2012. The exercise will replicate scenarios and planning cycles in a robust exercise setting that simulates combined operations against a hostile force. Max Thunder will provide invaluable large-force employment training for US and Republic of Korea military personnel. This combined, large-force employment exercise will include F-16s from the 8 FW, A-10s from the 51 FW, numerous ROKAF aircraft and accompanying support personnel during the week-long exercise. Experiences gained from this large-force employment training exercise will minimize potential combat losses and demonstrate interoperability between US and ROK forces. It will also provide vital training for future ROKAF and USAF Red Flag participants. Max Thunder will not have the same airspace, ranges and threat replication capabilities as seen at Red Flag Alaska, however, a robust exercise scenario will be generated for USAF and ROKAF personnel. Max Thunder exercises are important to the readiness of the USAF and our allies to ensure we are battle-ready and trained for combined air operations.
