Job title: Fighter Duty Technician/Joint Terminal Air Controller Instructor (JTAC-I)

Job description and its impact on the overall mission: As a Fighter Duty Technician, SSgt Whiddon is responsible for integrating aircraft with Army forces in close proximity to the enemy. SSgt Whiddon provides friendly ground forces with appropriate air cover when they need it most. As a JTAC-I, he ensures his fellow JTACs, throughout the 607 ASOG, are properly trained and ready to fight tonight.

Time in the military: 7 yrs 6 months

Time at Korea: 15 months

Hobbies: Scuba Diving, Sky Diving, Snowboarding and working out

Why did you join the military? To grow up. To do something more than the average American citizen.

Where do you see yourself in 10 or 20 years? Still being a TACP, training and staying ready to fight when called upon.

What do you do for fun here? Work out, bowl, hang out with friends

What's your favorite Air Force memory or story? All my deployments. Each brought me new experiences, whether in Iraq or Afghanistan.

What accomplishment are you most proud of? Becoming a TACP. There is not another job in the military that would have fit me better.
