In preparation for the biennial Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition, 7th Air Force recently contributed to and participated in a joint service and combined forces emergency management response exercise on Oct. 7. The drill was primarily controlled and executed by ROKAF forces; however, U.S Army fire fighters from Seoul Air Base were equally involved. Additionally, 7th Air Force assisted in the planning and preparation for this large-scale international event to include allocating medical forces to the response effort.

The incident consisted of a simulated crash of a C-130 aircraft with mass casualties. Over 25 responders from 3 agencies quickly integrated their capabilities, mitigated fire hazards, extracted crew members and rescued 20 personnel from the replicated hazards. Afterwards, an intense triage and treatment effort took place. Responders promptly identified and stabilized victims, then prepared them for transport to various treatment facilities dependent on their medical needs.

The event was overseen by the Mission Commander Colonel Danny Wolf, 7th Air Force Directorate of Operations and Plans, and Colonel Myung Ho Park, Base Group Commander, Seongnam Air Base. This integrated endeavor highlights the expansion of our partnerships into a comprehensive emergency management effort and fortifies USFK's goal for transformation and combined operations within the Republic of Korea.
