The U.S. Air Force is deploying 12 F-15Es from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, to Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, in mid-Aug for approximately five months as part of a scheduled rotational deployment.

The deploying F-15Es will replace the combat capability provided by the departing F-16s from the 13th Fighter Squadron, 35th Fighter Wing, Misawa Air Base, Japan, that were deployed to Suwon Air Base in Korea.

The approximately 400 airmen and 12 F-15Es from Mountain Home's 389th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron will work alongside ROK-U.S. alliance partners to maintain peace and stability in the region.

"As we welcome in a new unit, I would like to thank the 13th Fighter Squadron for the tremendous support they provided to the ROK-U.S. Alliance during their deployment and ensuring we are prepared for the future," said Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Remington, 7th Air Force commander." "While providing additional deterrence against aggression with their presence on the peninsula, they also flew many training missions with their ROK Air Force counterparts, improving the ability of the two Air Forces to fight together in the future should that ever become necessary."

"I have no doubt that the 389th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron will continue in that proud tradition," said General Remington.
