On Monday, 7 April 2008, at Osan Air Base Airmen from 7th Air Force formally 'cased' the guidon of the 607th Air Intelligence Group and unfurled a new guidon marking their transition to the 694th Intelligence Group under the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency.

This ceremony marks a milestone in realizing the Chief of Staff's vision to optimize intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support to combatant commanders by assigning Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency as the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) lead operating command. Additionally, for the first time, the stand-up of the 694th Intelligence Group establishes a single chain-of-command for Distributed Ground Station-Three operations.

Despite this organizational change, the core mission of the 694th Intelligence Group remains the same - providing 24 / 7 Armistice Indications & Warning and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations in support of the Republic of Korea.

Lt Gen Stephen Wood, 7 AF/CC and Col J.D. Stauffer, 70 IW/CC presided over the ceremony that officially deactivated the 607th Air Intelligence Group and subsequently activated the 694th Intelligence Group.
