Doscher 7th Air Force Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea -- The Post Allowance for U.S. Forces Korea civilian employees, set to zero by the Department of State May 4, has been restored to its previous rate of 20 percent, according to a letter from Army Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti dated June 2. The Post Allowance is a cost-of-living allowance intended to offset higher costs for goods and services as compared to Washington, D.C. It was reduced to zero following a DoS survey. In addition, the Under Secretary of State for Management has authorized the reimbursement of the 20 percent allowance for the pay period ending May 17 and 31, the letter continues. The DoS has also agreed to conduct another survey which will include all U.S. government employees, scheduled for mid-June. "You have a chance to be heard," Scaparrotti said. "Make it count. Thank you for all you do for USFK and in the service of our nation."
