7th Air Force kicks off Combined Federal Campaign - Overseas 2013

Your opportunity to show you care through the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas pledge to your favorite charity begins Sept. 16. The CFC-O, which ends on Nov. 15, is the annual workplace giving campaign for the five overseas combatant commands.

Administered by Global Impact, the CFC-O raised nearly $14 million in 2012, demonstrating the generosity of DoD uniformed and civilian personnel.

The CFC allows members of the military and government employees to donate money to worthy causes and help those less fortunate than themselves. Last year Seventh Air Force raised more than $364,000 and plans to beat that amount this year.

"We have set a lofty goal, but we think with some hard work and generous contributions, the men and women of Seventh Air Force can make it happen," said 1st Lt Frank Jamerson, 7th AF CFC-O Component Project Officer. "We want to make 100 percent contact - making sure everyone has a chance to learn about the CFC and donate if they want to."

Serving overseas often provides the unique opportunity to see firsthand the hardships people face around the world: limited access to clean drinking water, malnutrition and lack of educational pportunities, to name a few.

The CFC-O offers an opportunity to touch the lives of people in military communities, across the nation and around the world.

Group and Squadron CFC-O representatives will be contacting every member of 7th AF, both civilian and military to explain what the CFC-O is and to solicit contributions. More than 2,500 charities participate in this world-wide event, with several local area organizations taking part.

Jamerson said the CFC gives Airmen and other federal employees the opportunity to do just that. It allows them to show local, state, national, and international charities they care, by donating.

With more than 2,500 charities from which to choose, contributors can find and support causes that have personal significance. Contributors also have the option to give to the overseas military community through the Family Support and Youth Program fund. FSYP donations are returned directly to overseas military installations to support quality of life programs for uniformed service members, Federal civilians and their families.

Contributors can go to www.cfcoverseas.org to complete a paperless contribution via credit card, debit card or e-check. Donations can also be made via payroll allotment, cash or check on a paper Pledge Card. Start making the world a better place by visiting www.cfcoverseas.org or contact your CFC-O Unit Representative.

The campaign comes to a close on November 15th.
