7 AF commander presents Silver Star to Vietnam War aviator
FORT MYER, Va. - Lt. Gen. Jan-Marc Jouas, 7th Air Force commander awards the Silver Star to Lt. Col. Dennis Haney, for gallantry in action during the Vietnam War, Fort Myer, Va., Nov. 1, 2013. Then, Capt. Haney operated as an electronic warfare officer on an F-4C Wild Weasel providing close air support for the B-52 Stratofortress during Linebacker II, Dec. 18, 1972. In the same ceremony, Jouas presented the Silver Star to Mrs. Jane Tidwell, wife of Capt. Robert Tidwell, who was the pilot for Haney's F-4C during that mission. The Silver Star was established by an Act of Congress on July 9, 1918 and is the third highest honor military decoration for valor that can be awarded.
