Exercise BALTOPS 2020
Natochannel
June 19, 2020 | 2:15
Synopsis
Around 30 ships from 19 NATO Allied and partner nations have been taking part in an exercise in the Baltic Sea. Baltic Operations – or BALTOPS – is an annual maritime exercise. This year’s exercise was the first major European maritime event since the outbreak of COVID-19. To keep everyone safe, the usual amphibious component has been cancelled, as have all ship-to-ship transfers. BALTOPS ran from 7 to 16 June 2020. This footage was filmed on board the Latvian minehunter LVNS Tālivaldis. It includes drone shots of ships moored alongside each other in the Baltic Sea and a Latvian crew training with an underwater robot.
