CFACC Change of Command

Lt. Gen. Joseph T. Guastella Jr. took command of U.S. Air Forces Central Command from Lt. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian in a change of command ceremony presided over by Gen. Joseph L. Votel, commander of U.S. Central Command. B-Roll stringer with broadcast story script attached. Guastella becomes the new AFCENT Commander and Combined Forces Air Component Commander for U.S. Central Command overseeing all air operations in CENTCOM's 20-nation area of responsibility stretching from Egypt to Afghanistan. He will oversee air operations to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria as part of Operation Inherent Resolve and air operations against the Taliban, ISIS and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan as part of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. The ceremony marked a historic first in that it was the first AFCENT change of command held at the command's forward headquarters at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. The command's headquarters is at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.
